Production Note

As the war progressed, the quality of the paper deteriorated with specks and motes abounding on the surface.  To get more words on each precious sheet of paper the size of type was also very much reduced as was the spacing between lines.  These factors have resulted in numerous errors in converting the printed page to digital form by the Optical Character Recognition technique.

The vast majority of the errors have been detected and corrected but there must be some still remaining, in addition to the few - the very few - in the original issues.  Likewise, in converting from the word processing documents to web pages some errors in layout have occurred, particularly in tabulated material.  For all these errors, especially where a name has been wrongly spelt, I express regret as well as my hope that in due course these too will be corrected.
